北京新冠肺炎中医药救治专家组副组长、医院中西医结合中心主任医师、中西医结合传染病研究所副所长李秀惠说，中医从古至今在疫病中为保障百姓健康奉献了智慧。在这次抗击疫情中，中医从扶助人体正气出发，维护自身抗病能力、调整机体内在平衡、修复病理损害，在预防、治疗、康复的全程发挥了重要作用。
在预防方面，按照《内经》“正气存内，邪不可干”理论，提出扶正抗疫观点，制定了针对成人、儿童、有基础疾病等不同人群的预防方案。在抗疫期间，医院医护人员服用中医预防饮，助力医务人员实现零感染。对轻型和普通型治疗可以单用中药，使患者痊愈出院。对于病毒核酸转阴慢的，中医认为是正虚邪陷，对住院达40多天的几个普通型患者，给予健脾益气化湿的治疗后，病毒核酸都转阴出院了。
对于重型和危重型病例，采取中西医结合，共商救治方案，一患一策，互相配合，中西医专家联合会诊机制发挥了非常好的作用。比如患者喘憋，肺部炎症加重，中医抗肺渗出，支持西医液体疗法；患者出现痰中带血，属热入营血表现，给予凉血止血，效果很好。对出院患者的治疗，中医注重调神、情志、饮食与器官康复并举，给予益气养阴等中药治疗，使患者咳嗽、咳痰、低蛋白血症、电解质紊乱以及肺部炎症进一步好转。出院患者复诊时接受中医药调理，恢复得非常好。
